Kamelia Zaal to join LNADJ in Tanzania!

“Music and dancing have given me strength and a safe space to express my emotions from childhood until now. If I can help just one child use and understand the pure release and joy that music provides emotionally and physically to help heal, then that’s giving them a spark of joy and hope to know things can be better.

We are head to toe HAPPY to welcome Kamelia Zaal to Team LNADJ for our upcoming trip to Tanzania in January! We’re thrilled!!

An award-winning landscape designer by day, Kamelia is a little bit of Get Equipped. Over the last few years, we’ve watched her build a home studio and witnessed the absolute joy and freedom DJ equipment has brought her.

Kamelia brings boundless energy and a deep passion for music, making her a perfect fit for LNADJ’s mission to build hope through music. A music enthusiast and DJ in the making, Kamelia is set to inspire children and young people at the project with her talent and infectious enthusiasm. Her incredible dancing skills will surely be a hit, adding an extra rhythm to every interaction and creating unforgettable moments of joy. She is all about the JOY!

Kamelia’s no stranger to volunteering, having travelled to Cambodia, Tanzania, Nepal, Bhutan, and Borneo, as well as locally in UAE, raising money for children within those countries for schools and orphanages. Her involvement highlights LNADJ’s dedication to transforming lives through the power of music. With her vibrant personality and commitment, she’s bound to make a lasting impact on everyone she meets during our trip to the project.

Whether spinning tracks, sharing stories, or simply dancing with the children, Kamelia will bring the team a daily dose of positivity and creativity. LNADJ couldn’t be more excited to have her on board as they continue their work in empowering young people, fostering self-expression, and building connections through the universal language of music.

Kamelia will work with Darren Jay, Jono Heale, Trevor Fung and LNADJ team members Ellie and Jonny to represent our Get Equipped initiative. This initiative aims to help build confidence, elevate the positive profile of street youth, and provide a safe space to learn while encouraging self-discovery, stress relief, and emotional release through the power of music and art.
Before the trip, we reached out to better understand her dedication to the cause and her expectations for the experience.

What motivated you to volunteer with Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation and participate in this experience?

“It’s a combination of the two most important things to me: music and helping others. I’ve worked with a few charities over the years, travelling to Cambodia, Tanzania, Nepal, Bhutan, and Borneo, as well as locally in UAE, raising money for children within that country, for schools & orphanages.”

What specific skills or strengths do you believe you bring to the team for this experience?

“Music and dancing have given me strength and a safe space to express my emotions from childhood until now. If I can help just one child use and understand the pure release and joy that music provides emotionally and physically to help heal, then that’s giving them a spark of joy and hope to know things can be better.”

What do you hope to gain personally and professionally from joining us in Tanzania?

“Nothing other than the satisfaction of helping others and to learn more. I just want to be able to make a difference.”

Why is our organisation important to you?

“It’s just who I am. We are here to help each other. Last Night A DJ Saved My Life is a combination of my two main objectives in life. Music and helping to make this world a better place however I can. Music is the oldest form of communication. Rhythm is the foundation of the beginnings of humanity. It’s so much more than a dancefloor and having a good time with friends. Music goes way beyond that, beyond language, beyond cultural borders, beyond hate and violence; it’s that that you are showing these children. That’s what I love.”

Our charity’s mission is centred around building hope through music and unlocking all the joy that comes with creativity. How do you see yourself contributing to furthering this mission during the experience?

“Music and dancing have always shifted emotions, good and bad; for me, all my life, it’s given me the strength to get through hard times and often makes me so happy I cry. It’s shaped me into who I am today. Its that use of movement that I can share with the children. It’s the most excellent tool to make you smile within minutes or cry if that’s what your body needs. It heals.”

From all of us at LNADJ, Big Love and all the smiles to Kamelia for joining us on our mission to build hope through music. We are excited for you to see your energy shine through and cannot wait for you to join us.
