From 40 girls in 2018 to more than 27,000 today, a locally led Girls’ Empowerment Programme in Nepal is showing what can happen when girls are given the tools, knowledge and opportunity to shape their own futures. Now, LNADJ is joining the next chapter.
In 2018, the Girls’ Empowerment Programme in Nepal began with just 40 girls.
The idea was simple but powerful: create opportunities for girls and young women to access education, knowledge, counselling, vocational skills and support, and give them the confidence and tools to make decisions about their own lives.
What happened next was extraordinary and now we’re incredibly proud that Last Night A DJ Saved My Life is becoming part of its next chapter.
Those first opportunities didn’t stop with the girls who received them. Knowledge travelled into schools, families and communities. Girls became peer educators, mentors and advocates for others.
Today, the programme has reached more than 27,000 girls and young women.
THE GIRLS LEARNING CENTRE
As the programme grew, the girls themselves identified something they needed: a space of their own.
Somewhere to meet, learn, access support, develop skills, build confidence and create opportunities together. That idea became the Girls Learning Centre in Devchuli.
The building is there. Now it needs bringing to life and LNADJ is working alongside our partners in Nepal to help equip the Centre and support the opportunities that will happen within it.
And, importantly, we’re bringing more than fundraising.
Our partnership will include mentorship, creative programmes and elements of LNADJ’s own pioneering projects, delivered collaboratively with our partners on the ground, skilled LNADJ volunteers and the girls and young women themselves.
The aim isn’t to arrive with a ready-made answer, it’s always to listen to what is already working, understand where our community can add genuine value, and combine local knowledge with the skills, resources and extraordinary network that surrounds LNADJ.
ADVENTURE WITH PURPOSE
And how are we helping make it happen?
In 2026, we’re heading back to the mountains, together with our friends at The TRIBE Experience, the LNADJ community will take on A Sonic Adventure: Nepal, trekking through the Annapurna region to Lake Tilicho, one of the world’s highest lakes at 4,920 metres.
Our trekkers will raise funds in support of the Girls Learning Centre and the wider work we’re developing with our partners in Nepal. For LNADJ, this is what adventure with purpose looks like.
An extraordinary experience.
A community brought together.
And a reason for doing it that continues long after everyone comes back down the mountain.
