There is a pretty spectacular adventure happening in Nepal this year.
But Sonic Adventure: Nepal was never really about climbing a mountain.
It’s about what we can make happen because we climbed it. Alongside our partners in adventure, The Tribe, the LNADJ community is taking on an epic trek through the Annapurna region to Lake Tilicho at 4,920 metres, raising funds for our developing partnership with the Girls’ Empowerment Programme in Nepal.
The programme began with just 40 girls in 2018.
Today, it has reached more than 27,000 girls and young women, creating access to education, counselling, vocational skills, leadership opportunities and spaces where girls can learn, connect and build confidence.
At the heart of its next chapter is something the girls themselves asked for: the Girls Learning Centre in Devchuli.
A permanent space of their own.
SO WHAT ARE WE ACTUALLY FUNDRAISING FOR?
Our fundraising will help equip the Girls Learning Centre and support the opportunities that happen inside it.
But our relationship with Nepal doesn’t begin and end with this Sonic Adventure, as always, we’re building a partnership.
LNADJ will be introducing mentorship, with members of our community working directly with young women involved in the programme and sharing professional experience, practical knowledge and support.
We’ll also be taking elements of our own projects to Nepal, using music and creativity as tools for confidence, connection, learning and self-expression.
Those projects won’t simply be lifted from somewhere else and dropped into Nepal.
They’ll be developed and delivered collaboratively with our partners on the ground, LNADJ volunteers and the girls themselves, adapting what we know to the priorities and realities of the community we’re working alongside.
It’s a model we believe in deeply:
Local partners lead. We listen. And together, we build.
WHY MUSIC? WHY A TREK?
Because this is what LNADJ has always done.
We take the energy surrounding music, the DJs, dancefloors, festivals, artists, brands and people who make up our community, and turn some of that energy into something that can travel much further.
Sometimes that means equipment, clean water, education, skills or mentorship.
And sometimes it means doing something completely ridiculous at altitude to get everybody’s attention.
Sonic Adventure Nepal brings all of those worlds together.
Every trekker has their own challenge ahead of them and we’re with them every step of the way with every donation helping to move the project forward.
And when we finally reach Lake Tilicho, the real measure of the adventure won’t be how high we’ve climbed.
It will be what we’ve helped build when we come back down.
